We are coming to Invercargill next week - join us!

Bridging Cultures Waihōpai - Saturday, March 9th.

Tēnā koutou to our Southland whānau.

Next weekend we are bringing our Bridging Cultures workshop to Murihiku Marae in Waihōpai/Invercargill!

This free event is taking place on Saturday, March 9th, starting at 8:45 AM and runs until the afternoon.

We invite all local tangata whenua, Pasifika, and ethnic community members to join us for the day. The hui will feature various activities aimed at strengthening and better understanding our community, including history sessions from the local hāpū, facilitated whānaungatanga workshops, and discussions on how to honour Te Tiriti o Waitangi to bring about a more inclusive future for Aotearoa.

Our last Bridging Cultures hui from 2023 in Nelson

Bridging Cultures emerged from reoccurring feedback from these communities, describing their lack of connection with each other. We believe that community solidarity is a critical part of anti-racism work, as building connections and sharing stories promotes inclusion and belonging for the many different ethnicities that call Aotearoa home.

Last year, we ran seven sessions, and this year, we are extending the programme to areas that we have yet to cover! We look forward to seeing you there.

We are also searching for notetakers for this event. If you are interested in this paid one-off position, please contact our communications lead, Staughm, at [email protected].

Our heartfelt thanks to Community Trust South for making this mahi possible
